Ms. Francisca Achaliwie is an Assistant Lecturer with the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of health and Allied Sciences, Ho in Ghana. Prior to this position, she worked as a Health Tutor/Senior Health Tutor at the Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery training College, Berekum. She also worked as a Staff Nurse/Senior Staff Nurse at the Bolgatanga and Sunyani regional Hospitals.
Education
Francisca had her Nursing education (State Registered nursing certificate) at the Bolgatanga Nursing Training College. She later pursued a Bachelor of science degree in Nursing at the University of Ghana, Legon and a Master of scinece degree in Advanced nursing at the School of Health Sciences, Nursing, University of Nottingham in the UK.
Work experience
She has over 8 years’ experience as a bed side Nurse at the Bolgatanga and Sunyani regional Hospitals. As a general Nurse, she has worked in the Medical, Surgical, paediatric, Emergency, Isolation, orthopaedic, Gynaecological and Allied wards among others. She has also worked in other units such as the Public Health unit, Reproductive and child health care unit, Psychiatry unit and the operating Theatre. As a Health/Senior Health Tutor at the Holy Family Nursing and Midwifery training College in Berekum, she taught courses in Basic Nursing, Advanced Nursing, paediatric nursing, Research Techniques, personal and environmental Health. She also served as the Tutor in-charge of classroom, the skills laboratory and the coordinator for students’ clinical practice. She was the Academic Coordinator for Nursing for six months before her current position in UHAS.

Ms. Achaliwie’s research interest is in Maternal Health, Child Health especial paediatric pain management, Medication safety and Nursing Education. She has 2 publications in peer-reviewed journals.
