Mr. Gbande Sulleh is an Assistant Lecturer at the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Health and Allied Sciences, Ho. He is General Nurse by training with a special interest in palliative care and chronicity of diseases. He was appointed in December 2019.
Education
Mr. Gnande Sulleh had his nursing education at Central University where he obtained first class in Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 2014, and later pursued a Master of Philosophy in Nursing at the University of Ghana, Legon.
Work Experience
Prior to his appointment at the University of Health and Allied Sciences in 2019, Sulleh worked as a Lecturer at Central University for six years, where he taught a range of courses including but not limited to Research Methods, Nursing Theories, Palliative Care Nursing, Nursing Seminar, Physical Assessment, Basic Nursing, Surgery, and Medicine. Mr. Sulleh also taught Medicine and Microbiology at the Center for Distance Education of University of Ghana. He taught Anatomy and Physiology at Westend University on part-time bases.
He currently serves as a member of the committee in-charge of preparing student for Nursing and Midwifery licensing examination in the School of Nursing and Midwifery, University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS).
He practiced as a bed side nurse for 7 years at Tamale Teaching Hospital and Cocoa Clinic in Accra. He also has over 7 years university teaching experience during which he served on a number of committees including examination committee and facts finding committee. He also served as a Chief Examiner and Examiner for the Nursing and Midwifery council of Ghana (NMC). He also served as a board chair for 2 years at Blessed Assurance Seventh-day Church in Accra. In addition, he worked as Assistant District Health Director for Mataheko District of Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Church. He also chaired several academic fora including the recent International Conference on Entrepreneurship Business and Technology (ICEBUT) held at Methodist University College, Ghana.
Science/Research output
Mr. Gbande Sulleh’s main research area is palliative care nursing. However, he also has some work on chronicity of diseases. He is a member of the following associations: Ghana Registered Nurses Association and Honor Society of Nursing (Sigma Theta Tau International-STTI).
Gbande Sulleh has 2 publications in peer-reviewed journals, over 10 news articles, 15 international conference presentations, 4 Colloquium and 2 projects under way.
