Regular Stream
1. Local Applicants- Core Subjects
Applicants must obtain credits (at least Grade A1-C6) in WASSCE in the following core subjects:
- Mathematics
- English
- Integrated Science
- Social Studies
Applicants with Science Background
In addition to the core subjects stated above, applicants must obtain three (3) credits (A1-C6 in WASSCE) in the following elective subjects:
- Chemistry
- Physics
- Biology or
- Elective Mathematics.
Applicants with Arts Background
In addition to the core subjects, applicants must obtain three (3) credits (A1-C6 in WASSCE) in the following elective subjects:
- History
- Geography
- Agric/Animal Husbandry
- Home Economics
- Literature in English
- Management in Living
- Christian Religious Studies
- French
- Economics

2. Entry Requirements-Diploma/Professional nurses (Top-Up Stream)
Candidates with diploma awarded by institutions recognized by UHAS shall require the following:
- An FGPA of 2.5 or better or its equivalent
- Shall attend a selection interview.
Successful applicants will enter the programme at Level 300.
3. Entry Requirements-Diploma/Professional nurses changing specialty Area
Candidates with diploma awarded by institutions recognized by UHAS shall require the following:
- An FGPA of 2.5 or better or its equivalent
- Shall attend a selection interview.
**Successful applicants will enter the programme at Level 200.
4. Graduate Entry and Transfers
A candidate with Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from a recognized University or who has completed part of a relevant programme and wishes to transfer to UHAS may be considered for admission on the recommendation of a Special Admissions Committee appointed by the Dean. Each application under this section shall be treated on its own merit.
Generally:
- graduate applicants must have an FGPA of not less than 2.5 (Second Class Lower Division) or its equivalent.
- Applicants wishing to transfer to UHAS must have a CGPA of at least 2.5 or its equivalent.
5. International applicants and Ghanaians with External Educational Credentials
These applicants shall contact the NAB to determine the equivalence of their results and provide recommendation of their appropriateness. These include International Baccaulerette (IB), GCSE, American Grade three examinations, and other external qualifications which have equivalences to the WASSCE /GCE (A/L).
Entry Requirements
Admission Requirements for Postgraduate Programmes
The candidates should meet all the following requirements:
- Hold a first degree (at least second class lower) in Nursing from a recognized university
- Has practiced midwifery for at least two (2) years
- Should be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana or its equivalent.
- Two reference statements / letters from professional and academic referees.
- Statement of intent.
- Research Proposal
- Ghanaian or foreign national.
- Provide evidence of funding.
- Passing a selection interview.
